4 Tips To Stay Organized In An Apartment
Do you live in an apartment or plan on moving to one? If so, then don't do what a lot of other people do and that is become disorganized. Sometimes this is easier said than done. However, we have put together a list of tips to help you stay organized in an apartment.
1. Do A Quick Cleanup Nightly
Every night, even on the weekends, aim to do a quick cleanup. This isn't as time consuming as you'd think, nor is it as complicated as you'd think. In fact, you can do it very quickly. Generally speaking, you should be able to complete the task within 10-15 minutes.
If you do this regularly, then you will remain organized in your apartment. Another benefit of doing a quick cleanup regularly is it will keep the place de-cluttered and you will feel better. So what should you do specifically, every night you ought to do a quick dusting, pick things up and put them back where they belong, do the dishes, and other things of that nature.
2. Use Containers And/Or Shelves
Go ahead and invest in containers and/or shelves. The reason why you want to do this is because you want to give every thing in your apartment a place. This includes small items such as jewelry and items such as shoes, clothing, and anything else you can think of.
If you buy shelves, go for vertical ones. They tend to take up less room and look nice. On that note, consider buying numerous shelves and small boxes to place on them, and store smaller items in those boxes.
3. Keep What You Actually Need
Too many people keep stuff they don't need or use, which is not a good thing if you are trying to stay organized in an apartment. If you want to remain organized, then start getting rid of stuff you don't need. You might be surprised at how much stuff you could do without.
As a rule of thumb, if an item doesn't have emotional value, then toss it. Only keep things that are sentimental and/or mean something to you. If you think you have a lot of stuff, then gradually get rid of things on a daily basis, until there's nothing left that you don't truly need.
4. Raise Your Bed
Raise your bed slightly and store stuff under it. You can store a lot of things under a bed, including a safe or two. If you can't raise your bed, then go out and buy a bed that is raised, and then you can store certain belongings under it.
You can put paperwork in a safe or box, and then place it under your bed. If you have equipment that is small enough, then go ahead and store them under your bed. These are only a few examples.
Raising your bed and keeping only the things you actually need are great ways to stay organized in an apartment. So is buying shelves/containers and tidying up regularly. Do those things and you will find yourself more organized.
